PP, PSOE, Ciudadanos, Más Madrid and Podemos-IU have managed to reach an agreement in the Madrid Assembly to agree on a battery of measures with which to face the crisis derived from the pandemic in the region. Fourteen work sessions and 35 appearances have produced an opinion with 214 proposals. The initiative came from the Socialist Group to create a Reconstruction Commission that has managed to approve, with the support of all parties except Vox, this battery of measures. The president of said commission, the Madrid deputy of the PSOE Carlos Carnero*, speaks to us in this interview about the achievement that the agreement reached between the right and the left of the autonomous Parliament has represented at a time when consensus is still absent in the political debate in Spain.
Nuevatribuna.es | You have just approved in the Madrid Assembly a battery of measures agreed upon by all groups except Vox to confront the pandemic. Which in your opinion are the most urgent? Carlos Carnero | They are all priorities and what they show is that the development model that they had sold us, not as a successful model, but AOL Email List as the most successful model in Spain, was not so much. Madrid has two impacts of the COVID crisis, on the one hand, the socio-health impact and, on the other, the economic impact. In both areas, it is evident that the Madrid model suffers not only from the consequences of the pandemic but also from its structural weaknesses. In healthcare, it is a priority to strengthen primary care by providing it with human and material resources.
On the issue of residences, a legal framework is needed that protects the well-being and lives of our elderly. Education needs to be modernized. In economic matters, we must put an end to temporary employment, and address the excessively small business fabric and the low presence of the industry in the region. And all this within the framework of what European resources are going to be. But the commission's opinion is not binding. But it is a political resolution of the Assembly, 118 votes in favor and 12 against, those of Vox. Having achieved a majority and an agreement of these characteristics is exceptional. Something similar has only occurred in the Valencian Community, not even in the Congress of Deputies. And all the measures are feasible.
