When Meteor hit, the planet had to defend itself in order to allow Holy to fully function. When the Lifestream erupted out of the planet to do this, it took on Sephiroths influence, the purity of the planets life was now corrupted and anyone who comes in contact with it, contracts Geostigma. Though the corruption of the Lifestream isn't the only thing that happened when Meteor hit. The devastation that the planet experienced caused a split in the time lines and now an alternate, more intermixed world exists because of it. Events from the past seem to be intertwining with the present as well as the future.
Places seem to go back in time and relive its former glory, namely Midgar. The once ruined metropolis is once again flourishing with life as though nothing ever happened, even the people within seem unphased. Doubles and even triples of the same person walk in the same place now, their minds in their respective time until something or someone comes along to shatter any normalcy that Gaia once held to them. Though not everyone has as many versions as others. Amidst the chaos, some have been lost in the space of time. One man from the future may not see his past self and vice versa.
The time lines that have come together still flow within the pattern of events that is expected. History will repeat itself undoubtedly unless someone stops the original flow and directs it differently. Will you be that someone?.
